The craftsmanship of the Indian weavers has been refined to a fine art & these fabrics
woven from superior yarns are now being manufactured on powerlooms.
In a unique fusion of the old and the new, traditional motifs are being replicated by
powerlooms on gossamer fine fabrics, using the most advanced technology. The textile
units are spread all over India, but concentrated in certain areas such as Erode, Salem,
Namakkal, Madurai, Ichalkaranji, Solapur, Bhiwandi, Malegaon and Burhanpur.
To tap its vast potential and to promote the development and exports of powerloom textiles,
the Ministry of Textiles established the Powerloom Development & Export Promotion
Council (PDEXCIL) in 1995. Since its inception, PDEXCIL has been taking all initiatives in
realizing its mission, towards quality and development. Today a large number of
manufacturers and exporters are registered as its members. |
